Carolina Entrepreneurial Initiative and
The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation
The Carolina Entrepreneurial Initiative (CEI), a major new program funded by The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, launched in 2004-2005 with 10 new programs and a diverse range of activities designed to help UNC-Chapel Hill students, faculty and staff become more entrepreneurial and to launch ventures of all kinds, both for-profit and nonprofit. In its first year, CEI brought world-renowned researchers and entrepreneurs to UNC, helped launch commercial and social ventures, approved a new minor in entrepreneurship for students in the College of Arts and Sciences, and attracted participation from hundreds of UNC students, faculty, staff and alumni. The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation based in Kansas City, Missouri, works with partners to encourage entrepreneurship across America and improve the education of children and youth.
