Description

Fred Hutchison is a founding partner of Hutchison & Mason PLLC. He was the founder and first president of the Council for Entrepreneurial Development, and currently leads the Catalyst Project effort to encourage entrepreneurs to pledge stock to charities. He has been active in efforts to encourage entrepreneurs to become involved early with philanthropy. Hutchison concentrates his practice in corporate, securities, venture capital, and mergers and acquisitions.

Reasons for winning the award

This is the second annual award for exemplary vision and leadership in biotechnology. Fred Hutchison, a founding partner of Hutchison & Mason PLLC, is a leading visionary behind the vibrant emerging growth company environment in the Research Triangle Area. Hutchison is a strong advocate of entrepreneurial companies in the Triangle, and his efforts to improve the entrepreneurial climate have made a strong impact throughout the community.

History

Fred Hutchison graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the UNC-Chapel Hill with a B.S. in Business Administration in 1971, and he received his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1975. While at UVA, Hutchison served on the Board of Editors, University of Virginia Law Review and was inducted into the Order of the Coif.
