Charlotte's Elogex Secures $6.2 Million


Elogex Inc, a Charlotte-based application service provider offering collaborative commerce and transportation execution solutions for the logistics and distribution industry, secured $6.2 million in a strategic round of venture funding. Fenway Partners led the investment. Elogex is launching its proprietary collaborative commerce platform called the "Elogex Network," in the fourth quarter of 2000. John Anderson, head of Big Wheel Partners, a subsidiary of Fenway Partners, will join Elogex's four-member board of directors. www.elogex.com

Two Triangle Companies Invited to Present at Semiconductor Venture Fair


Triangle-based Kyma Technologies and Nitronex Corporation were recently selected to present at the Semiconductor Venture Fair in San Francisco on February 20-21, 2002. Seventy-five fast growing companies in the semiconductor industry nationwide were selected from 1,000 applicant companies to present. "This is the first time we have been invited to present at a large semiconductor venture fair, and we are thrilled," said Ed Pupa, president and CEO of Kyma Technologies. MercuryMD Gains Three New Customers


MercuryMD, a Durham-based company that integrates hospital data and delivers patient information to healthcare professionals' handheld devices, recently announced that Moses Cone Health System in Greensboro, North Carolina Baptist Health in Little Rock, Arkansas, and WakeMed in Raleigh, North Carolina, have completed implementations of its MDataTM Enterprise System. The three new customers represent 12 hospitals with more than 4,200 beds and are among the nation's top performing health systems. UNC and Duke Team On Genetics Research


Working together medical school faculty at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University have discovered a previously unrecognized cause of pancreatitis, a common ailment often correctly attributed to alcohol or drug abuse but also of mysterious -- or"idiopathic" -- origin. The researchers say the newly discovered culprit has nothing to do with substance use or anatomic abnormalities. Instead, it involves mutations in the gene that causes the highly debilitating disease known as cystic fibrosis or. LiveWire Logic Hires New Senior Vice President


LiveWire Logic, creator of a Web-based, customer self-service solution that provides intelligent conversational agents for customer Web sites, has named Dave Fox as senior vice president of sales and business development. Fox joins the Research Triangle-based company with over fifteen years of high-tech software sales experience, including his most recent position as vice president of CRM solutions with Oxford Global Technologies (OGT), a division of Oxford Global Resources. While at OGT, Fox merged the CRM entities while increasing revenues 25% and maintaining margins; under Fox's leadership, this practice has built over 30 call centers, logistics systems, SFA systems and helpdesks. Prior to OGT, Fox served as the senior vice president of sales and chief technology officer of the CRM solution provider, Stearman Technology Group.
