FullSeven Nets $800,000 First Round


Formerly OuiShare, RTP-based FullSeven Technologies, Inc. announced that it has raised $800,000 as part of a $1 million round led by truePilot, an early-stage venture capital firm founded by Michael Brader-Araje. Joining truePilot in funding FullSeven's series A round were Paul Bandrowski, Steve Giles, Robbie Hardy, Mark Jauquet, Reid Legget and other undisclosed investors. FullSeven, which announced along with the funding news that it was changing its name from OuiShare, provides an outsourced technology platform for enhanced email delivery. Customers taking advantage of FullSeven's technology include CED and Hughes, Pitman and Gupton, LLP.

Ziptronix Reels in $6.5 Million


Ziptronix, a Research Triangle Institute spinoff and semiconductor integrator, has received a $6.5 million venture round from Atlanta-based FormerAlliance Technology Ventures. Officials at Ziptronix told LocalBusiness.com that this round will help get the company off the ground by paying for additional equipment and employees. Ziptronix, which is based in the RTP, has formulated a proprietary process that integrates fiber optics directly with digital signal processors on one chip.

Arsenal Digital Solutions Acquires Filefrenzy


According to venturewire.com, Durham's Arsenal Digital Solutions announced that the company is acquiring filefrenzy, which provides technology for Internet content management, in a stock-for-stock transaction. Arsenal Digital, a storage and application service provider formerly called Usendit.com, will combine its storage expertise with filefrenzy's advanced data management tool. Arsenal said it will maintain filefrenzy's 35-person office in Raleigh, N.C., as well as its own team in Durham.

BuildNet Withdraws $230 Million IPO


BuildNet Inc., which provides online business, technology, and project management systems for the home building industry, has withdrawn its planned $230 million initial public offering, company officials said. BuildNet, which originally filed for its IPO in March, cited unfavorable market conditions in a filing with the SEC. According to LocalBusiness.com, registering for an IPO had restricted BuildNet's business in three areas: private fund raising, publicity and mergers and acquisitions.

Pinpoint Inks Deal with Everypath and American Cancer Society


Durham's Pinpoint.com, founded last year by Judson Bowman and Taylor Brockman, has inked a partnership with Everypath Inc. and signed on the American Cancer Society as a client for its topic-specific search engine technology, LocalBusiness.com reported. The partnership with Everypath, which is based in California, gives Pinpoint.com preferred access to all the content that Everypath turns wireless. Pinpoint.com will provide access to Everypath and its clients' wireless content from its wireless search engine and directory engine, which it offers to telecommunications carriers and portals. In a separate announcement, Pinpoint.com said it will provide and customize its topic-specific search engine for the American Cancer Society's wired Website (www.cancer.org).

How Stuff Works Lands Syndicate Contracts


According to LocalBusiness.com, Cary-based How Stuff Works has signed contracts to syndicate its content to several national online and print publications The LA Times is launching a section, every Thursday, called Tech Times, and an edited version of How Stuff Works content will be part of that section starting in November, company officials told LocalBusiness.com. Also in November, USA Today Online will include How Stuff Work's content on how everyday things work in the national publication's online science section. In addition to the deals with the LA Times and USA Today, the Cary-based company also inked an agreement with Plant Engineering, which will feature a monthly column by How Stuff Works founder Marshall Brain.

Electrifier Launches Rich Media Partnering Program


RTP-based Electrifier, Inc., which provides rich media infrastructure for business applications, has launched its Design Partner Program. The new program leverages the talents of top interactive agencies and Flash and rich media designers in support of Electrifier's proprietery rich media system. In more simpler terms, the design partner program allows designers to create templates and themes for Electrifier's software, in return for revenue opportunities. Electrifier, which was founded in late 1998, has raised approximately $1.5 million from private investors and has offices in both San Francisco and the RTP.

Embrex Gets $270,000 2nd Phase of Grant


RTP-based Embrex has received $270,000 as part of the second phase of a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant supported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The local biotechnology company, which makes vaccines and develops technology to sort poultry eggs by gender, expects its current project under the grant to last 3 to 4 years. Embrex's goal, according to LocalBusiness.com, is to develop an alternate approach to sorting eggs in the poultry industry.
