Kitty Hawk Raises Fourth Fund of $42 Million
Charlotte-based Kitty Hawk Capital has closed a
$42 million fund and has invested in six firms,
including three in the Triangle:
Biolex, Inc.
Cogent Neuroscience
SpectraSite Communications
Matt Ocko Joins Southeast Interactive Technology as General Partner
Matt Ocko, former general partner with Softbank Technology Ventures has been named a special general parner in Southeast Interactive Technology Funds. Ocko will contihnue to reside in Palo Alto. He co-founded DaVinci Systems with Bill Nussey, Chris Evans and Paul Ramsey in the early '80's.
Marketing VP Leaves Relativity for Marathon Group
Richard Phelps, former Marketing Vice President of Relativity, has joined on with The Marathon Group, a privately held developer of Internet applications for Fortune 500 companies. This is the second executive to leave Relativity in a week, Matthew Szulik left to be president and CEO of Red Hat Software on Monday. Phelps was a founder of Antares Alliance Group of Dallas previous to his term at Relativity.
SciQuest Purchases BioSupplyNet
North Carolina based SciQuest has announced the purchase of the New York based BioSupplyNet. SciQuest is the leading Internet source for scientific products and BioSupplyNet is the leading provider of product sourcing information for life science researchers. Investors in the combined company are Bessemer Venture Partners, Noro Mosely Partners and Wakefield Group of Charlotte.
