International Business Experts Share Tips on Winning in the Global Marketplace

February 14th’s Globalization 2008 Conference Also Features Panel Discussions

January 15, 2008, Research Triangle Park, N.C. – As the global marketplace continues grow, many local entrepreneurs are considering taking their businesses international. What are the opportunities, challenges and concerns of operating across borders? The featured speakers at the Council for Entrepreneurial Development’s Globalization 2008 Conference -- February 14, 2008, at the Embassy Suites RTP East hotel in Cary, N.C. – will provide their insight and advice.

The first featured speaker, Deepak M. Advani, Lenovo’s chief marketing officer and senior vice president global e-commerce, will present from 9A – 10A. He will discuss how Lenovo overcame barriers to establish a stronghold in the U.S., effective market entry strategies and managing the cultural differences of a global workforce.

Advani is responsible for building the Lenovo corporate brand globally, including activating global sponsorships of the Olympics, Formula One and the NBA. In addition to marketing, Advani oversees global P&L for Lenovo’s e-commerce business, product design and press/analyst relations.

Also featured is Michael Chen, Red Hat’s vice president of corporate marketing and former general manager of Red Hat China. He will participate in a question-and-answer session with Janet Babin, national reporter for North Carolina Public Radio, from 12:15P – 1P.

Chen is responsible for leading Red Hat's global corporate marketing function, including corporate brand, global communications, customer experience management, online strategy, and community affairs. As GM for China, he had P&L responsibility and led overall operations including strategic planning, sales, marketing, government relations in China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong markets.
