Angel Capital Expert Jeffrey Sohl to Speak at CED’s Angel Investor Retreat

Sohl Headlines Angel Gathering on April 24 During CED’s Venture 2007; Pre-Seed Startups Can Apply by March 5 to Present at Angel Retreat

February 27, 2007, Research Triangle Park, NC – The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) today announced that Jeffrey Sohl, Ph.D. – an internationally recognized expert on angel capital trends – will provide featured remarks at CED’s Angel Investor Retreat on April 24 at the Washington Duke Inn and Golf Club in Durham, N.C.

The Angel Investor Retreat, held during CED’s 24th annual Venture conference, will offer networking, deal-flow and educational opportunities for active angels and early-stage investors across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic.

Dr. Sohl is Director of the Center for Venture Research at the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire. He has presented his angel research in academic and business forums in the United States, Europe, Australia, Asia and Africa. Dr. Sohl has appeared on CNBC, MSNBC and National Public Radio, and he is widely quoted in the U.S. and international press.

"Last year's Angel Investor Retreat was filled to capacity, and we look forward to yet another strong turnout this year from angels and other active investors who are actively seeking seed-stage deals,” said CED President Monica Doss. “With Dr. Sohl joining us to speak about the state of angel capital, this year’s retreat is a must for any early-stage investor who wants to learn more about angel capital trends.”

In addition to Sohl’s featured remarks, the Angel Investor Retreat will also offer presentations from startups, spinouts and other seed-stage companies seeking initial funding. Early-stage companies can apply online by March 5: www.cednc.org/conferences/venture/2007/presenters/.

After company presentations and networking lunch, investor attendees are invited to stay for Start-up Speed Dating from 1-2:30 p.m. This event will offer brief face-to-face meetings between investors and pre-selected start-ups.

Angel Retreat attendees are also encouraged to attend the remainder of CED’s Venture 2007 conference – held the afternoon of April 24 and the following day (April 25) at the Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club.

Space at the Angel Investor Retreat is limited to accredited angel investors or active early-stage investors only. There is no additional cost to attend the Angel Investor Retreat for pre-registered Venture 2007 investor attendees. However, advanced registration is required due to limited space. Visit www.cednc.org/venture for registration details.
