Senator Tom Daschle to Speak at CED’s Biotech 2007

16th Annual Conference Will Also Feature Panels on Emerging Trends in Biotechnology

January 23, 2007, Research Triangle Park, NC – The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) today announced that former Senate Majority Leader Thomas A. Daschle – a proponent of healthcare reform and alternative energy – will deliver featured remarks at Biotech 2007. The 16th annual conference, scheduled for May 14-15 at the Marriott at the Civic Center in Durham, N.C., is presented by CED in partnership with the North Carolina Biotechnology Center and the North Carolina Biosciences Organization (NCBIO).

Senator Daschle is currently a Special Policy Advisor in Alston & Bird’s Washington, D.C. office and is a member of the Legislative and Public Policy Group. With over 25 years of service in the House of Representatives and the Senate and 10 years as Senate Democratic Leader, Senator Daschle has made a significant impact on the development of U.S. legislative and regulatory policy, particularly with regard to energy and health care.

“Senator Daschle has a long and supportive history with the biotech community,” said CED President Monica Doss. “We are honored to have him share his thoughts at Biotech 2007 on the political climate for life sciences in the United States.”

In addition to comments from Senator Daschle, Biotech 2007 will also feature concurrent panel sessions led by industry visionaries and leaders. Panel session topics will include fundraising, biofuels, emerging technologies, biotech and pharmaceutical exit strategies, cell ethics, and trends among large pharmaceutical companies.
