Wall Street Journal’s Walt Mossberg to Keynote InfoTech 2005
Technology Columnist Will Speak at CED’s 15th Annual IT Conference
August 17, 2005, Research Triangle Park, NC – The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) today announced that Walt Mossberg, personal technology columnist for The Wall Street Journal, will kick-off CED’s InfoTech 2005 conference by delivering opening keynote remarks. Scheduled for October 12 at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel & Convention Center in the RTP, the 15th annual InfoTech conference will highlight North Carolina's IT industry and explore the latest industry trends and new business opportunities.
Mossberg is the author and creator of the weekly Personal Technology column in the Journal, which has appeared every Thursday since 1991. He also writes two other weekly columns in the Journal. In Mossberg's Mailbox, he answers readers' questions. In The Mossberg Solution, he compares and contrasts consumer electronic gadgets. He is also a contributing editor of SmartMoney Magazine and a regular technology commentator for the CNBC TV network.
The Washington Post has declared Mr. Mossberg “one of the most powerful men in the high-tech world” and “a one-man media empire whose prose can launch a new product.” Wired Magazine declared: “Few reviewers have held so much power to shape an industry's successes and failures. . . . Chances are he has influenced the look, feel and performance of your laptop, mobile phone, and MP3 player.”
Mossberg last spoke at CED’s annual technology conference during a featured media panel at InfoTech 2001.
“Walt Mossberg is widely regarded as one of the country’s most influential technology columnists. I look forward to having him return to the Research Triangle region to share his wealth of knowledge about technology trends,” said CED President Monica Doss. “This year's InfoTech conference presents a unique opportunity to hear first-hand from a true industry expert and thought-leader.”
In addition to Mossberg’s keynote address, InfoTech 2005 will also feature 10 concurrent panels, including topics covering financing, cellular technology, outsourcing, international sales and disaster recovery. The conference will also showcase 26 demos from North Carolina’s most promising technologies. For more information on the conference, visit www.cednc.org/infotech.
