Brooks Malone, chair of the InfoTech 2005 demo selection committee and a partner with Raleigh-based Hughes Pittman & Gupton LLP, said the demo participants will provide a fresh look at the expanding pipeline of innovation in North Carolina.
“With such a high-quality group of applicants this year, we were able to select a diverse line-up of demo participants that represent our state’s enormous potential in technology,” said Malone. “In particular, I am pleased with the variety of new and emerging technologies on display, including university breakthroughs and entrepreneurial start-ups.”
The InfoTech 2005 demo selection committee chose demo participants based on their level of innovation, current/potential market application and “demo-ability.” CED sought applications from North Carolina-based entrepreneurial companies, university spin-outs, garage entrepreneurs, students, IT corporations and local research institutions.
This year’s InfoTech demo participants will be eligible for the 3rd Annual People’s Choice Awards, which will be voted on by conference attendees at the Oct. 12 event. Maverick Marketing will provide $7,500 in marketing communication services to the first place winner and $2,500 to the second place winner.
Beyond the demo exhibits, InfoTech 2005 will also include discussions on IT trends and issues through panel sessions and featured speakers. For more information on the conference, visit www.cednc.org/infotech.
