'Mobile Computing' Showcased at CED's February Tech Forum

Area Leaders in Mobile Computing to Gather at MCNC on February 9, 2005

February 1, 2005, Research Triangle Park, NC – The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) is presenting its next Technology Forum on “Mobile Computing” on February 9, 2005, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at MCNC in the Research Triangle Park.

Recent studies show continued growth in the number of PDAs, laptops, cell phones and other devices equipped with wireless technology. Nearly 200 million Americans are estimated to currently have cell phones. Experts also predict that there will be 2 billion wireless subscribers worldwide by the end of the year.

In response to these growing trends in mobile computing, CED's February Tech Forum will present a panel of seasoned entrepreneurial executives who will discuss the current and future impact of this expanding industry. Panelists will include the following:

  • Keith Boswell (moderator), Burning Sky Ventures
  • Dov Cohn, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Product Management, Motricity
  • Andy Fox, Vice President, Business Development, Summus
  • Ed Holloway, President, Field2Base
  • Chris Newton, CEO, Intervolve

“From the board room to the living room, Mobile Computing continues to be a driving force not just in the tech sector but in other traditionally tech averse industries as well,” Boswell said. “From blue collar construction workers resolving problems with digital cameras and Tablet PCs, to doctors calculating neonatal doses on PDAs, to your kids playing games or your spouse counting carbs on their cell phones, mobile computing cuts across genders, age groups and industries.”

Pre-registration for the February Technology Forum closes on Monday, February 7, 2005. For general registration details, visit CED's calendar (www.cednc.org/calendar) or contact Zack Mansfield (zmansfield@cednc.org or (919) 549-7500 ext. 119).
