WFU's Babcock School Opens Business Incubator

Winston-Salem's much-anticipated business incubator was officially opened last week by Wake Forest University's Babcock Graduate School of Management as part of a broad effort to support the local business community. The Babcock Demon Incubator is aimed at promoting entrepreneurial education at the university and offers services and expertise to fledgling companies that have the potential for fast growth and significant economic effect in the Triad. The incubator operates under the Babcock School's Angell Center for Entrepreneurship. According to the Winston-Salem Journal, the incubator's first tenant is a newly formed retail-technology company, Cygnetics Corp., and university officials said that 15 other local companies have expressed interest. Paul F. Briggs Jr., a retired executive from Duke Energy, has been appointed the director of the incubator. www.mba.wfu.edu
