Charlotte-based Wachovia says it has committed to a goal of lending $5 billion to women-owned businesses by the end of 2005. As part of the commitment, Wachovia has underwritten "Removing the Boundaries: The Continued Progress and Achievement of Women-Owned Enterprises," a new study conducted by the Center for Women's Business Research in Washington, D.C. The study is an in-depth look at the characteristics of women-owned firms in the United States between December 1997 and December 2000, focusing on financial strength and growth. www.wachovia.com
