Privately held Paradigm Genetics Inc. has broken ground on a $12.8 million expansion project that will give it 54,000 square feet of laboratory and office facilities on six acres of land adjacent to its current facilities. The new building, which will be called the Center for Functional Genomics Research, is the first of what could ultimately be three stages of expansion, giving the company about 284,000 square feet on a contiguous 22-acre campus within Research Triangle Park. The company has grown from 25 to 80 employees over the past year and expects to grow to over 200 employees by 2001.
