Top 100 Most Influential Technology Companies Named
In May, the Aberdeen Group, now a division of market researcher and mail list builder Harte-Hanks, completed their research for the Annual State of the Market Report with specific information about the technology industry. Aberdeen's experts used customer input to create a ranking of the top 100 most influential technology companies.
The 2008 edition of the report, which has a retail value of $1,995, names the top five most influential companies in this order: Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, IBM and Cisco. Of these top five, three are CED members: Microsoft, IBM and Cisco.
rPath Secures $10 Million C Round of Funding
rPath, a company enabling "cloud computing" via virtual appliances, has raised a $10 million C round led by its existing backers, General Catalyst, North Bridge Venture Partners, and Wakefield Group L.P.
rPath has been a CED member since 2006. rPath was a late stage presenting company at CED's 2006 Venture Conference, and a month later the company received CED's Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards for Start-up of the Year.
In addition, Wakefield Group L.P., has been a CED member since 1995 and supports CED's capital campaign at the Contributor level.

Liquidia Technologies co-founder Awarded the "Oscar for Inventors"
This week Joseph DeSimone, co-founder of Liquidia Technologies, was awarded the prestigious $500,000 Lemelson-MIT Prize in recognition of his inventions and innovations that improve the world in which we live. DeSimone's most recent invention, the PRINT® (Particle Replication in Non-wetting Templates) platform utilizes techniques from the microelectronics industry to design and manufacture highly-precise shape and size-specific nanomaterials. .
Liquidia has been a CED member since 2004. DeSimone presented at CED's Venture Conference in 2001, 2003 and again in 2005. Since participating in CED's Venture Conference, Liquidia Technologies has raised two rounds of venture capital totaling $22 million.
Tireware, Inc. Secures Additional Angel Funding
TireWare, Inc., a start up dedicated to helping retail tire and automotive dealers grow and run their business through internet technology, will secure an undisclosed amount of additional angel funding this week. This funding is in addition to $4.2 million that the company has already raised.
In April, Tireware, Inc. participated in Start-Up Speed Dating at CED's 25th Anniversary Venture Conference.
Arbovax, Inc. Closes $1.43 Million Round
Vaccine developer Arbovax, Inc. closed its Series A round with a total investment of $1.43 million, led by Piedmont Angel Networks (PAN) with additional investment from the Research Development Foundation, Carson City, Nevada and
Mario Family Partners. Arbovax, is developing technology designed to help produce vaccines against insect-borne viruses.
Malcolm Thomas, president and CEO of Arbovax, Inc. has been a CED member since 2005. He participated in the Angel Retreat at CED's 25th Anniversary Venture Conference.
