Don Dodge--Failing Fast is a Good Thing

Don Dodge, author of the Next Big Thing blog and panelist at CED's recent Tech conference referenced this advice to entrepreneurs at the conference:

"The only thing better than a "Yes" is a quick "NO". When you are raising money, selling a customer, or trying to get a deal done, it is the long drawn out process that never ends that will kill you. It is the same thing with startups. Being successful is always the goal, but if it is going to fail...Fail fast."

Kind words for South East entrepreneurs from Donna Bogatin, InsiderChatter.com

Donna Bogatin, Founder & Chief Analyst, InsiderChatter.com, (her blog is Insider Chatter by Donna) and a panelist at CED’s 17th Annual Tech conference, reports from the conference:

“I was so engrossed in getting to know the individual, real-world cutting-edge entrepreneurs showcased in the heart of the South East tech corridor, that I didn’t even realize that there were no “must have” Facebook Apps. Not until I returned to the blogosphere, that is, to be greeted by a blogger spat over Facebook love!

"It seems that the Internet’s “court jester,” Esther Dyson, message to ‘throw out your development to go use Facebook,” hasn’t reached the Research Triangle, and THAT IS A GOOD THING!’"

On the Menu-Episode 4: Richard Boyd, CEO of 3DSolve

The gaming and simulation industries are hotter than ever these days and companies in and around the Southeast, in particular Research Triangle Park, have played a huge role in the popularity and resurgence of social and simulation technologies.

CED is hosting the 17th annual Tech conference on Thursday, October 11 at the Friday Center in Chapel Hill and over the past few years, the scope of the conference has shifted from strictly IT to include a wide range of industries such as med tech, digital media, clean tech, hardware and software, mobile communications, healthcare and security technologies and more. Over 30 companies will demo their technologies in this year's Demo Pavilion.

This year's conference will introduce the gaming and simulation industry with a first-ever Game Night Reception, so this episode of CED's popular Internet show "On the Menu" features Richard Boyd, CEO of 3DSolve and now Director of Lockheed Martin 3D Learning Systems, speaking to the simulation industry and some of his personal gaming and web favorites.
