With today’s globally competitive economy and growing pressure to produce results in the shortest period, companies need to hire executives with the highest probability of initial success. Businesses must consider which hiring practices should be in place to secure the best candidate, and what are the key competencies that person should have.
Cary-based consulting firm Unlocked Potential has examined this important human capital issue in a newly released white paper: “The Secret to Hiring a Star Executive (PDF).
Unlocked Potential’s research project included interviews with top executives from the Research Triangle region to identify the competencies of a successful CEO. The report's author, Mark Parbus, discovered that uncovering these competencies is the first step to hiring the best candidate. Parbus also found that the most important component to securing a top executive is developing and executing an effective hiring process.
This white paper was developed in partnership with NC IDEA and CED.
Unlocked Potential's report comes a few weeks after CED released its 2007 Entrepreneurial Satisfaction Survey. The availability and retention of top technical, non-technical and management talent again registered as the most significant concern for high-growth entrepreneurs in CED's study (which mirrors findings from the 2001, 2004 and 2006 CED surveys).
