Monica Doss Guest Column: Funding Fuels Growth

In advance of next week's Venture 2007 conference, Business Leader has featured a cover story on past Venture conference presenter Integrian.

In addition, the magazine included a guest column from CED President Monica Doss.

The article examines the results of CED's 2007 Entrepreneurial Satisfaction Survey, which found that access to capital remains a critical factor in starting and growing a company.

The need for access to venture capital, both in seed and expansion stages, remains a high priority for survey respondents in the 2007 report. Companies relied more on angel and venture capital this year, with 49 percent of the respondents reporting one or both of these equity sources vs. 43 percent last year, as well as on personal funds and bootstrapping.

The guest column also touches on the Venture conference's role in showcasing innovation-based companies that are seeking initial or subsequent rounds of venture financing.

This year’s conference, scheduled for April 23-25 at the Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club in Durham, truly will be a regional showcase, with presenters from across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic region on display. In addition to the expanded presenter geography, Venture 2007 also will feature more deals than before, with more than 50 pre-screened companies at all stages of growth.
