CED hosted its annual Opportunity conference in Wilmington earlier this week, with over 300 people participating.
Some of the buzz at the conference:
* Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue unveiled the North Carolina Military Foundation, which will identify and pinpoint new and existing avenues to bolster a military economy in North Carolina.
* Wilmington Investor Network announced that it invested $2.5 million in six companies over the past year. WIN plans to invest in another RTP-based company in the coming weeks.
* Presenting companies from across the East Coast gave their pitches to a packed room of angel investors. During the closing reception, investors said they were impressed with the quality of presenters. Some investors mentioned plans to schedule follow-up meetings with several companies.
