Corporate Entrepreneurship
Dr. Stephen C. Harper, Professor of Entrepreneurship at UNC-Wilmington, has written an interesting guest column on Corporate Entrepreneurship: How To Not Be A One-Trick Pony.
Harper is teaming up with Brett Martin, CEO of Castle Branch Inc., to present “Corporate Entrepreneurship: Fundamentals and a Case Study,” a breakout session during at CED's Opportunity 2006 Conference on Dec. 5.

Making it on a Shoestring
A recent New York Times article explains that Internet start-ups are making it on a shoestring. Such a trend could give more bargaining power to entrepreneurs, changing the way they approach investors.
As the article notes, this "has been a challenge for venture capitalists, who have raised record amounts in recent years and need places to put that money to work."

UNC Seminar on Open Source Licensing
The next Carolina Innovations Seminar is scheduled for Thursday, November 9 at 5:15 p.m. at UNC-Chapel Hill's Sitterson Hall. The program will focus on "Open Source Licensing: The Basics, The Benefits, The Buzz."

Inc. magazine is planning to expand the Inc. 500 annual list of America’s fastest-growing, private companies, to include 4,500 more of these high-growth businesses.
In addition to honoring the top 500 and 5,000 companies, the information collected by Inc. will be used to advance the study of company growth and the entrepreneurial economy in the U.S.
