Renowned inventor, entrepreneur and author Ray Kurzweil delivered keynote comments at Venture 2006 last week.
Throughout his Powerpoint slides, Kurzweil discussed the "Acceleration of Innovation in the 21st Century: the Impact on Business and Society."
Some of Kurzweil's comments and predictions included:
* Information Technologies (of all kinds) double their power (price performance, capacity, bandwidth) every year.
* Reverse engineering the brain is the "ultimate source of the templates of intelligence." The brain’s design is a level of complexity we can manage (eg, reverse engineering should be completed by 2029).
* By 2010, computers as we know them will disappear. Electronics will be so tiny that they're embedded in the environment, our clothing, our eyeglasses, etc.
How have you recognized the acclerating pace of innovation in your daily life? Do you think technology has the potential to change how long we live our lives, as Kurzweil has predicted?
