The Research Triangle Regional Partnership (RTRP) has released a new life science strategy called "Innovations @ Emerging Intersections: A Strategy to Maintain the Research Triangle Region's Competitiveness in Life Sciences."
The study, announced during the annual BIO 2006 conference in Chicago, outlines the region's strategy for remaining a world leader in this highly competitive industry.
The report includes an 18-step action plan for both retaining and expanding the industry, particularly in the areas of biodefense, nanotechnology, neurotechnology and environmentally clean technology.
This life sciences strategy is part of RTRP's overall competitiveness plan, Staying on Top: Winning the Job Wars of the Future. It is five-year, $5 million action plan to create 100,000 jobs in the region and boost employment in all 13 counties by promoting the growth of targeted industry clusters, particularly in life sciences industries.
Take a look at the new life science strategy and let us know your thoughts. What else should the region be doing to maintain its competitive edge in life sciences and other industry clusters?
