In partnership with the Edward Lowe Foundation and entrepreneurial support organizations from around the state, North Carolina Companies to Watch honored second-stage companies that not only demonstrate high performance in the marketplace, but also exhibit innovative products and a dynamic workplace culture.
North Carolina Companies to Watch focus on second-stage entrepreneurs – companies between 5-99 employees and $1-50 million in annual revenue. This sector of companies represents 9.6% of all companies in NC, but 36.2% of all jobs.
The 25 winners of the North Carolina Companies to Watch 2010 were selected from 190 initial nominees statewide. Of this group of companies:
In just four years, ending in 2009, they collectively generated $334 million in revenue and added 443 employees
This represents a 232 percent increase in revenue and a 176 percent increase in jobs
In 2010, the group projected a 98 percent increase in revenue and a 49 percent growth in employees compared to 2009
If projections held, the companies collectively will have generated $596 million in revenue and added 785 employees over five years
In all, these companies represent a 556 percent increase in revenue and a 311 percent increase in jobs since 2006
