Igniting Entrepreneurial Success Through Know-How and Networks

CED's Mentoring Program

About CED's Mentoring Program

CED is excited to introduce a formal mentoring program to its members. This program brings together seasoned CED members looking to share their expertise and CED member entrepreneurs looking to take advantage of experience of those who are aware of the challenges new entrepreneurs face.

Participating in the mentoring program is easy and free for CED members!

Entrepreneurs (mentees)

1.   Complete the program Mentee application
2.   Submit the form to CED's Bob Pickens at bpickens@cednc.org
3.   Review mentor options offered by CED
4.   Select your mentor
5.   If the mentor is amenable (a process overseen by CED), the mentee is contacted by the mentor and the logistics of the meetings are determined

Mentors

1.  Complete the program Mentor application
2.  Submit the form to CED's Bob Pickens at bpickens@cednc.org
3.  Review mentee requests offered by CED
4.  Communicate affirmation or declination of mentee request to CED within 5 business days of receiving it
5.  Contact the mentee and determine the logistics of the meetings

Once a match is made and the mentoring engagement agreed to, the mentor and mentee self-manage the relationship to its conclusion. At the engagement’s conclusion, CED sends out a survey to monitor program performance and solicit input on ways to enhance it.

Eight Rules of Engagement:

1.   Minimum mentor time commitment of 4 hours per month.
2.   Anticipated average length of engagement is 3-6 months.
3.   Mentor and mentee agree to maintain appropriate confidentiality.
4.   Both parties to maintain highest professional / ethical standards.
5.   Mentors cannot accept fees or commissions for the Mentoring Service provided. Should a commercial opportunity between the two parties avail itself as part of the Mentoring relationship, both parties must end the Mentoring relationship before engaging in a separate commercial activity.
6.   Either party may end the relationship for any reason the terminating party deems appropriate.
7.   Mentee holds mentor harmless for any advice given.
8.   Mentor has no claim to any mentee commercial successes or benefits from participating in the program.
