In 1998 Szulik was named Chairman and CEO of Red Hat and, in collaboration with Red Hat founder Bob Young, developed a vision that the collaborative approach of open source combined with a great brand could redistribute the economics of the technology industry from vendor to customer. Szulik's passion for providing educational opportunities for students worldwide through open source has positioned him as a spokesperson to industry, government, and education leaders on open source computing. currently a Director of Tibco Software. He was recently recognized by CIO Magazine with its 20/20 Vision Award.
